| How beautiful upon the mountains are the feet of him who brings good news, who proclaims peace, who brings glad tidings of good things, who proclaims salvation, who says to Zion, “Your God reigns!” Isaiah 52:7 To my fellow co laborers in Christ: Grace and Peace! I hope that this letter finds you well. Let me be the first to bombard you all with a petition asking you for your support before all those who plan on going to summer missions attack you first. =] But before I beg for your much coveted prayers, let me take a moment to share with you my heart. To refresh your memory, let me travel back to 2002, where God granted me the opportunity to be blessed and overfilled with the love of Christ… again. He sent me on a short term summer mission trip to Harbin, China. A team consisting of 17 members from my church (Berean Community Church), our mission was to teach English and build relationships/friendships. There, we hosted a 2-week English intensive camp. At this camp, God enabled us to share His message of hope and deliverance, or as we know it, His sweet gospel message. We were able to pass out Chinese/ English bibles to those who were interested in our faith and wanted to learn more. It was in Harbin that I promised myself that if and when God allowed it, I’d go back to finish what was left unfinished. My heart ached for these students, who I had to leave behind. I was left uneasy because there was NO ONE to keep these lost sheep accounted for. So this is why, I’m writing to you now because God has given me yet another tremendous opportunity to obey His great commission, for the next 6 months. Only this time, I’ll be in Beijing joining a team of 6 Bereans who have been serving diligently for the year. I will be teaching English at an academy owned by missionaries. My main mission will be to interact with college students at the nearby university, in what has been developed to be known as “English Corner.” This will be the place where hopefully, I’ll build longer lasting relationships with collegians in an exchange of understanding different cultures, languages, and beliefs. The 6 who are out in Beijing now, hosts weekly bible studies to teach our newly brothers and sisters how to live for the Lord. As many of you know, I’ve always had a heart for the mission field. I believe God is allowing me to go for multiple reasons and letting me stay for a longer duration this time around. He’s preparing my heart more and more to see His lost sheep the way He sees them, sheep without a shepherd (Mark 6:34); to grieve and ache for lost souls doomed to an eternity of burning torment (Revelation 14: 9-12); and I’m learning how to really love His creation with compassion (1 John 3: 16-18). HOWEVER, none of this can be ascertained without the support of my church and friends. I yearn to be shielded in the prayers of my brothers and sisters. More convinced then ever, the Lord continuously convicts me just how powerful prayer has become in my personal life (1 Thessalonians 5:16-18; Proverbs 15: 29). Please pray for me and ask God our Father to use me, a bond slave for Christ, to proclaim the gospel, in which God would summon people to Himself in such a way that they respond in saving faith! Let me close this letter with a sincere heart of thanks to all who have supported and loved me over the years. God has seriously given me such an awesome church to attend to week after week, and amazing brothers and sisters who dearly love me and pray for me. I thank you from the depths, and the core of my utter most being.
